1. Purpose of the Software
The Aloney Check-In Assistant (hereinafter referred to as the “App”) is designed to help individuals living alone stay safe by allowing them to schedule regular check-ins. If a check-in is missed, their selected emergency contacts will be notified. The App is intended to provide peace of mind through smart reminders and secure communication between users and their trusted contacts.
The App is not a medical or emergency service, and it does not replace professional monitoring systems, emergency call services, or healthcare supervision. It is not designed to detect real-time emergencies or ensure physical safety. Users should always contact emergency services (e.g., 112 or 911) in case of danger or a medical situation.
The Developer (Márk Bartos, hugs@aloney.app
) disclaims any responsibility for incidents, delays in response, or failure to notify contacts, regardless of the App’s intended purpose. The App must be used at the User’s own risk and is provided “as is”.
Any association with illegal use, criminal activity, or violation of laws is expressly disclaimed.
2. Disclaimer, Obsolescence, and Bug Fixes
The Developer is not responsible for the accuracy or timeliness of notifications or check-in handling. Server issues, phone settings, or network delays may affect functionality.
The App may become outdated over time, and the Developer cannot guarantee uninterrupted functionality. Users can report bugs via email at
, and such reports will be handled in line with the “Privacy and Data Protection” section.hugs

While efforts are made to fix bugs, there is no guarantee that fixes will be accepted by Apple or reach users promptly.
This disclaimer also applies to any paid or subscribed features via in-app purchases.
3. Privacy and Data Protection
By registering within the App, the User agrees to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy.
3.1 User Database
By using the App, the User consents to the storage and usage of the following data for app functionality, analytics, and safety purposes:
- Email address
- Display name
- Emergency contact info (name, email, etc.)
- Usage data and event logs (e.g., scheduled check-ins, notifications)
All data is securely stored via Google Firebase, whose privacy policy is available here.
3.2 Newsletter Subscription
By registering, the User may also receive the Aloney Newsletter, which can be unsubscribed from anytime via a link at the bottom of the email.
The newsletter and its data are managed through Brevo, where the User’s name, email, and usage data are stored. Brevo’s privacy policy is available here.
3.3 Subscription and RevenueCat
In-app subscriptions and purchases are managed through RevenueCat, a third-party platform that processes and verifies subscription status. The User agrees that their name, email address, purchase history, and usage metrics may be stored and processed by RevenueCat for the purpose of subscription validation and analytics.
RevenueCat’s privacy policy is available here.
By purchasing a subscription, the User acknowledges that:
- The App does not guarantee the availability of any feature for the entire duration of the subscription period.
- Subscribed features may be changed, limited, or removed at any time without prior notice.
- The App may become unavailable due to technical issues, server downtime, or discontinuation by the Developer or third parties (e.g., Apple, Firebase, RevenueCat).
- No refund is provided unless otherwise required by Apple’s App Store refund policy.
The User subscribes at their own risk, and the Developer assumes no responsibility for any losses or inconveniences arising from a change in subscription features, termination of the App, or service interruptions.
3.4 Bug Reports & Email Contact
The User can contact the Developer at hugs@aloney.app
. Emails will be retained for up to 90 days after App discontinuation, after which they will be deleted.
The Developer reserves the right to use anonymized feedback for improvement or marketing purposes.
3.5 Data Deletion
The User can request account deletion from within the App under “Settings → Delete Account”, which will remove their data from both Firebase and Brevo systems.
If the App fails to process the request, users may email hugs@aloney.app
and the Developer will manually complete deletion within 90 days.
4. Availability and Support
While the Developer aims to keep the App operational, availability is not guaranteed. The App may be discontinued at any time by the Developer or Apple.
In such cases, the installed App might still work on the User’s device but will not be available for re-download.
5. Subscriptions, Service Availability, and Liability
The purchase of any in-app subscription or content does not entitle the User to any specific uptime, service level, or future feature access.
The Developer may discontinue the App or its backend services (including servers responsible for notifications or check-ins) at any time, regardless of the User’s active subscription status. This may result in partial or full loss of functionality, even during an active subscription period.
No compensation, refund, or liability is assumed by the Developer for:
- Changes in app features or interface
- Temporary or permanent service unavailability
- Data loss due to technical failures
- Missed notifications or undelivered check-ins
All services are provided “as is” and “as available”, without any warranty or guarantee of continuity.

The User may not reverse-engineer, copy, or modify the App. The App may only be used in its intended form, in compliance with Apple App Store policies.
7. Validity and Changes to the Terms of Use
These Terms remain in effect until revoked. The Developer reserves the right to change these Terms at any time without prior notice.
By continuing to use the App after changes, the User accepts the updated Terms. It is the User’s responsibility to regularly review the current version.
